Lyrics

Snow is falling on Pinecrest Road as children dress to play in the snow
Putting on their winter suits with plastic bread bags inside their boots
To keep their feet both dry and warm until it’s time to head back home

To watch Mitch Miller’s sing along, that bouncing ball on every song
And drink hot chocolate from a cup as little marshmallows float on top
With crayons color holiday scenes of reindeer, snow and evergreens

I stare out the window as snow falls on the pines
Makes me dream of that hometown of mine
The smell of fresh cedar drifting through the night air
How I wish, that I was still there
I remember, yes, I remember those times of my hometown Christmas

Everyone gathers down at Town Hall to sing a verse of O Tanenbaum
The switch is thrown, the tree is lit and then they watch as Santa sits
Upon a fire truck, way up high tossing candy as he passes by

I stare out the window as snow falls on the pines
Makes me dream of that hometown of mine
The smell of fresh cedar drifting, through the night air
How I wish, that I was still there
I remember, yes, I remember those times of my hometown Christmas

Hunting mistletoe with a shotgun at the old millpond
Sledding down “The Big Hill” with our rubber snow boots on
Staying out ‘til dusk when, the smudge pots all get lit
As do all the grownups with every whiskey sip

On Christmas Eve the townsfolk gather to listen to the school cantata
Down the church isle the children go with angel’s wings, they’re all aglow
holding candles, burning bright as each one sings, O Holy Night

I stare out the window as snow falls on the pines
Makes me dream of that hometown of mine
The smell of fresh cedar drifting, through the night air
How I wish, that I was still there
I remember, yes, I remember those times of my hometown Christmas
